If a bad thought enters, you quickly introduce a new thought, gets rid of it before it really entered.

Funny thing is, this is what prayer is really all about. Controlling your thoughts, directing them toward something, and having gratitude and appreciation for all this is already yours.

"Redirection" is often used in training horses, and dogs, and kids. Great idea to use it on myself too...

The eye is the lamp of the body. Becareful of what you allow to come before your eyes. What you see, gives rise to your thoughts.

The power of thoughts. “Where you currently are, in your life….is just a reflection of your past thoughts.”

This is where it feels like our physical space can be so important — like having quotes, or art, or photos of loved ones around to prompt us to think of those “good things” often ❤

also one of the key things of breaking a bad habit. don’t try to suppress the thoughts of the bad habit, but introduce so many things that you’re not even thinking about the habit at all. (not saying to overload your brain, but when you think about the bad habit think of new thoughts instead of trying to suppress it)

My therapist wants me to practice healthy thinking. Not negative thinking. Not positive thinking. HEALTHY thinking. He said emotions like sadness and anger are normal but what is important is that I allow the thoughts that will lead to self-love.
I’ve been working hard on it. The antidepressants have helped me a lot. They take away the dark clouds so I can see the health thoughts.

Every day I read from Dr Caroline Leaf's book "Switch on Your Brain Every Day" - its all about what we choose to focus on: "ie, wired for love", etc. and how worry and fear cause neurochemical chaos in the brain.

"HARD TO SUPPRESS THOUGHTS, BUT ACCUALLY QUITE EASY TO INTRODUCE THOUGHTS". 🤔⚡️⚡️

This is why prayer over sin is so powerful. Choosing to give these thoughts to God AND to fixate on the goodness to God is powerful and works!

This is why CBT is the secondary component to therapy.

Depression is responsible for pushing neurons away from destructive ideas, while CBT is responsible for pulling ideas toward constructive ideas.

People who wallow instead of thinking constructively give their neurons nowhere else to go. Neurons HAVE to be apart of an idea to live, but they have no idea what ideas they are apart of.

I did this kind of thing growing up swinging until I was even an adult. People thought it was weird that I would swing a lot in my life even as an adult.
Yet what I'm usually doing then is meditating, I'm usually listening to music in intense emotions, imagining drastic scenarios that I may possibly face anywhere in my life that may be dangerous, emotional, personal, things like being cheated on, facing death, having children, getting married, going homeless, being hated by everyone, being evil and doing things I may regret, how I could start doing something that may be good for a time but lead to problems, etc.

I had countless scenarios that I would question every possible outcome of these things, and that gave me many perspectives in life that as I start to live my life I've already thought out almost every possible scenario that any human being could ever face and because I know that every direction I can possibly take I will realize in the moment when it actually happens what is the best option to take and how to react to things.

Even guys 50 years older than me tell me I should be their father because of how wise I seem when I'm just a young man. But reality is, I've just taken much more time than they have in their entire life to think about a situation, a moment, a desire, and how I should react to these things and when I should not give in to them and when I should.

But they have never thought it over much, and so they react on a whim when they're put on the spot and that often comes out as what he refers to being spontaneous, which often becomes a foolish decision if you haven't thought about the consequences of those actions that can lead to other things and then when you're not ready for those other things those turn into even bigger problems when you handle them the wrong way because you're not ready.

But this is why we should have parents in our life constantly talking to us as children about what we should and should not do in life but that's not what we've mostly had in this world. Mostly we were told to go watch the TV go to school go outside and wait till we grow up and then move out of the house and everybody wonders why everybody's making so many crazy stupid decisions in life now that messed up the whole world over the last few decades.
