Im so curious about durian. It seems mind blowing to me how something that smells so bad, can taste so good, since much of what we think is a flavour experience, is actually a scent experience. It doesn't compute in my mind, but I'm all for trying durian, and can't wait till I one day do have the chance to taste this infamous scoundrel of a fruit 😊

Tried it back early 1970s. If you can get past the ‘smell’, it has a pleasant taste, custard texture.

What is the smell? In WV they have ramps. It's a scallion/garlic/horseradish type of onion. If you ate it you got kicked out of school!!

I’ve had durian and your right the smell is very strong and doesn’t smell great but the flavor is good, if I could describe it, it would be like a mix of fruits. There are pros and cons to this fruit but I think it’s well worth to try. 😊❤

Lol... we had to ban durian in our business office as well as reheating fish in the microwave.
Back story... my coworker was passed off at the director and brought in durian several days in a row to share with others. It was too funny.

I tried durian ice cream when I was travelling in Singapore and it tastes so good. I even ate it in a park. It's a must try. 😉

me and my whole family love durian. maybe there are different kinds than what we grew up with or people associate smell differently, but I NEVER once thought that it smells bad. I was shocked to know that some people think it smells like crap/trash. I always know it smells pungent, but to me it's just a sweet and appetizing smell 🤣

Try putting a teaspoon of salt in water and drink it, it helps with the smell/ stinky breath. Hope this helps.

I just tried durian otap. I thought I bought plain otap and didn't realize it until I got home lol. I have a very Americanized pallette but after I got past the smell it was fine. I gave it a 6/10

I haven't had durian yet but I didn't even think of the smell lingering on the breath. If I go find some I'm packing a travel sized mouth wash and mints

If I can eat chitilins they way I do and people hate the way it smells as well I really think can try durian 🤣🤣🤣

It seems kinda extreme though.. It's like not eating anything with onions or garlic in it, because other people wouldn't like your breath. I think as long as you like the dish, or fruit — eat it and enjoy. You can always take a breath mint after. And if someone doesn't like it, they can just go smell someone else.
