James is the more complete player. He did a great job of containing Leao yesterday, . Trent is still brilliant, and I think will get his chance sooner than later.

I'm a liverpool fan and you'd have to start with James. But to not take Trent would be stupid. He can change a game and I think he'd be a brilliant sub to bring on when we need a goal.

Right now, James is playing on another level offensively and defensively. That last game against AC Milan, he completely shut down Leao. That’s really hard to do.

Reece James for me. However, I’d love to try and fit both in. Maybe 3-4-3 with Trent on the right of the 4, and James on the right of the back 3? Would allow Trent to do what he’s best at without worrying quite as much about defending

RJ any day of the week defending is the main job and he does that at the highest level and offensively he’s class

Reece all day long. He can defend which is his main job. Plus he is actually very good going forward. With Trippy as backup as he can do what TAA does on the ball but most importantly defend.

Reece every day. Especially for the way Southgate plays.

Trent's confidence in England has been shaken by the on/off nature of the England management support for him, while he remains confident in himself and will continue to shine for Liverpool. Reece is hungry and fits the team model that Southgate likes, so he will be the choice, and won't be a disappointment as he is quality as well.

It’s not even debatable - James is miles ahead in terms of defence, and certainly ain’t too far behind Trent going forward either. Overall James is the superior RB.

Loftus Cheek has to go to the World Cup for England, he’s been Chelsea’s best player this season and if say Kalvin Phillips gets in over him who can’t get in the City bench it’s a bad choice

People tend to forget that Reece is still immensley good going forward as well, hes a bigger goal threat than trent and though not a better crosser, is still top 5 crossing full backs itw

Trent had a decent day yes.
But for me as an LFC fan
(Not even England fan).
Reece all day long, not too bad on the attack. Not too bad on the defence.
Hopefully after this WC, a new system is put on place.

Reece with a back 4/5. Only put TAA in the midfield if needed. But TAA skill set can be offered by other players like ward prowess for free kick.

I prefer Reece James anyday, he's just as good as offensive if not even better than Trent and Reece James can actually defend Aswell and really solid physically and defensively.
