Fertilizing trees gives them the nutrients they need, but it can help in other ways. Certified Arborist Wes Hopper talks about fertilizing trees and the different ways to do it. Roots need air and space in the soil. Certain fertilizing methods help create this space and get the fertilizer down into the ground where the tree can get it. Wes also talks about mycorrhiza and the interaction of fungus and plants. He also describes how proper fertilization will encourage tree roots to grow down and not grow on the surface. Wes also talks about pruning roots.

Loved this video . Great interviewing and great knowledge from a certified pro. Not like most videos of that include some random self proclaimed pro. Please make more videos like this in detail . Like how do I actually inject fertilizer., , ?? Thank you!!

I have a ross root feeder/irrigator. Some say make it drip slowly, letting out high pressure is bad. In this case high pressure is good to aearate the soil. I dont know anymore.

I have an oak tree in the front yard as does everyone in the city. I think it is a pin oak-it drops its leaves in the fall and the roots are growing on top of the ground. Also I think it is rotting at the north side of the base. I believe it is time for the city to cut it down as they trim the limbs off every spring. Now it might be time to call the city and get them to take care of it.
