How-to Disable Slide Over on the iPad

Turn it off; Settings + Multitasking + Allow Multiple Apps + Tap the toggle switch so it is NOT green.
I would love to see Apple implement an easy to tap button in Control Center that will allow this to be turned on or off instead of needing to go into settings.

not everyone has a new iPad, or is using a new version of iPadOS/iOS on their iPad. so yes, this method is old, but still has a purpose for people with iPad's that still use this feature!

There's an app-by-app solution for newer iPads. When you're in an app that has the Slide Over tab, hold and drag the gray bar at the top of the Slide Over to the right side of the iPad. Then close the app and open it again ... the Slide Over tab will no longer be there. (My gratitude to the Apple employee who showed me this.)

You should specify that the above narrative DOES NOT APPLY to the iPad Pro. On iPad Pro the Multitasking setting is found in Setting Home Screen and Dock

Ok, Found mutiltasking. Under home doc, on IOS like someone said here. Thank you. Did not work tho. I want to be able to read the full email, and enlarge it, with NO sidebar taking up 1/3 of the screen. So far, it wont slide away, i end up trashing emails by mistake, trying to move it out of view.

Hi! I know this is like 5 years later but, could you show me the opposite! How do I make a slide bar? I can’t seem to figure it out even though I turn on multiple apps i don’t know how to put the slide bar apps there…if you’d see this comment it would really help me! Thank you!

i’m starting to think there’s no point in giving tips on iOS because by the time you published it, they’ve removed the feature renamed it or put it somewhere else. Like in this case, this menu doesn’t exist anymore. Mind you at least it gets some views so you can monetize it. That’s about the only point but it’s not very helpful to me right now because we are on about eight later versions of iOS already.

After General my iPad doesn’t say multitasking nor do I see multiple apps anywhere? Any suggestions? My iPad is only few years old. Had one before 7 years…never had this issue..don’t know how I managed to create it but it’s so annoying.

This did not work for iPad7. Under General, there us no Multitasking.
