Another Silage Chopper Disaster

Of course, the problems happen at the end of the video. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to catch the chaos on film as it happened, but we have what could be the last happy footage of the old 1890 for a long time or ever. I fixed it and made it work the last time, but this one is a more thorough mangling, and I just get tired of fixing and fixing. At least it wasn't muddy.

Might have to switch to a pull type chopper cause that looks expensive if you can even find the parts for that old chopper anymore

Well that was an unexpected turn of events. I think the first video I ever watched of yours was replacing the radiator in that ole girl.. is it time for the uni to take over?

Sorry to see how this video turned out. I'll be interested to see what you decide on this one. I'm sure there were not a lot of these produced, so parts are probably scarce. One way or the other, I know you'll get it figured out.

I bet a pull type silage cutter would work fantastic behind that big TW20

If you want to work on it, look up Norris Works from Works Sales and Service in Indiana. They have everything Fox.

I think that the 1890 chopper unit is similar to the 890 pull type minus the cross auger. Otherwise you are probably better off looking for another chopper like an 1895, 1900 or 1915 which will accept the same heads that you have.

I hope no metal fragments made it in your silage wagon. There should be a magnet to catch metal that comes through the knives. You might go to a pull type chopper. Hope all is well. Merry Christmas

I'm not surprised, Even the new choppers suck Can't tell you how many times each harvest something breaks down even though you take care of it it always finds a way to break It's even worse with the new ones because of the stupid computers they have and then you have to call somebody from The company of the machine to come down and fix it for you....
My farm we always have the The saying " It aint a harvest if nothing breaks down"

Then there’s also the risk that a small piece of steel would be in the silage on the wagon. Would you discard of that load to prevent any chance of a cow eating a sharp piece of steel?
