If he was buried alive, wouldn’t people realize he was still breathing?

That’s a stupid theory. Even that long ago we had a basic understanding of vital signs. Never heard of a dead man that breathed and had a heart beat.

Actually he would have been horrifically mummified alive…..

Quiet unlikely as Guillain Barre syndrome is an acute but still a progressive disorder, which means his paralysis would increasingly involve newer body parts, meaning he could still communicate this to his caretakers.
Most persons with GBS who are unable to move their limbs, can still partially move their head and even their eyeballs, hence observant caretakers would never consider him dead.
If he was completely paralysed, he would anyways be unable to breathe by himself, so the likelihood of him dying due to respiratory failure would be high considering the lack of mechanical ventilatory support and chances that he was still alive while being buried is quiet less.

If I’m ever buried alive I’ll go “man such a great legend died this way” I hope it’ll make me less scared

This makes no medical sense. Guillain Barre syndrome will involve the respiratory muscles as it ascends and worsens. If you can’t move your head and face, you also can’t breathe. And if you can’t breathe, you die. There are other rare neurological conditions that do mimic death, but they are rare. It is documented that Alexander had a fever. He died of an infection or massive inflammatory condition. I suspect it was alcoholic pancreatitis or a ruptured gastric ulcer given that a night of heavy drinking and eating preceded his illness. It could also have been an infection related to one of his prior severe battle wounds, or a food borne illness such as typhus.

or, more likely, the corpse not rotting was just a fabricated story. That theme is very common for people considered to be holy, or an idol. The rotting of corpses is when we really understand when we, as humans, aren't as special creatures as we thought. that's why they think, it's not worthy for people like Alexander to just rot.

“Did not show signs of rot for 6 days” as of in he started to rot after 6 days, meaning he was not buried alive, live people don’t rot.

this is the first time i have ever heard this. Surely if burried alive then he would have shown signs of attacking his surroundings when he was able to move again

It was definetely NOT the largest land based empure in the world. Modern day countries like Russia are larger. And if we are talking about empire there are the Mongol Empire, Russian Empire, Qing, Dynasty and many other which were larger.
