The reason why Ayaka was able to make Wenut do 3 moves instead of 4 was because Cryo slowed down it movements.

Wenut's Ultimate (casts anemo orb) has a kind of "TIME THRESHOLD",
which means it has to use that Ultimate attack when the time comes.

For example, Wenut should use Ultimate after 40 seconds,
Wenut is capable of 4 moves in 40s if not slowed down by Cryo,
However Wenut is only able to do 3 moves in 40s if slowed down by Cryo.

As I read from someone on hoyolab, the boss skips his 4th attack if you apply cryo on him, so he slows down, the ai powering his moves is kinda disturbed. So basically it happens with any cryo team.

The added benefit of having Nahida on the second half is that she absolutely dumpsters the two Hydro Abyss Heralds. 😂

For me only Raiden National was fast enough to give a ~9:10 clear on the first half. Second half was Yaoyao (4 deepwood), Tighnari, Yae Miko and Fischl. I think I ended around 7:05. This is definitely one of the toughest 12-3's I've ever had to deal with, so I would say don't feel bad if you can't 3 star it. But then again that's probably cold comfort to those are still struggling. This guide gives some really helpful pointers, but I think that the community will find other ways of countering it in future. It is still a pretty new beast.

Thank you literally so much, I needed this guide this chamber was so hard to clear. All the teams I tried were extremely hard to clear it with 3 stars. Since I didn't have the teams you aforementioned though I still found it difficult. The tips helped a lot though and I was able to clear it at exactly 7:00.

Holy crap this guide actually worked! I used yelan, xinqiu, dendro traveler, and kuki and I used my bursts when it resurfaces doing nothing. I managed to clear it at exactly 7:00 minutes

The boss gets slowed due to ayaka's constant cryo aura from her attacks which leads to it skipping the 4th attack pattern.

I 3 star cleared with Ayaya freeze the initial fight was a mess but after a few tries I did get the hang of it, watching the video consolidated what I had noticed in terms of patterns and key moments to capitalise on ! I’m back here to thank you, after watching and re-watching your video three times, and re-trying the wenut so much times I finally made it yesterday!
I used these teams 1) Raiden(EL) Noblesse-Bennet(Acquila) Xiangling(Catch) Sunfire-Jean(fav)
2) Ayaka(Mist) Shenhe(Fav) Noblesse-Mona(Amber) Kazuha(fav)
The first team was very smooth, The second team was almost there bursting only when the wenut was down. I tried bursting half way and then kazuha e and Shenhe e to decrease the res and to gain icy quills while the burst was still hitting and that was very effective! 🎉
