The National Forest for Wales is a bold initiative, setting Wales on a positive path to managing carbon emissions and safeguarding our planet’s future prosperity. We’re excited about it. It’s something positive for people to do together now, that will help our future generations, too.

In #Wrexham, Erlas Victorian Walled Garden is taking this a step further by actively supporting the health and wellbeing of its community as well as the environment. The site provides a space for people with additional needs to enjoy themselves while developing their mental and physical capabilities, improving their quality of life.

Erlas, which is run as a charity, joined the National Forest for Wales in 2023 and demonstrates the National Forest outcomes in many ways. The site has good quality, well-managed woodland with unique specimen trees. Including the veteran mulberry tree, which is around 250-300 years old.

The video features Sorrel Taylor (Charity Lead Officer), Cai Williams (beneficiary), Emily Hughes (beneficiary), Tom Healy (Garden Support Worker), Jim Crabtree (Garden Co-ordinator), Stanley Moore (Chair of Trustees), and Elly Evans (Support and Education Co-ordinator).
