I’m a DG customer and I 1000% agree with this! There are three DGs in my town and all three are woefully understaffed. I went to the DG closest to me at opening (8AM) and I went back again close to closing (9:45PM) The SAME cashier was there! She had been trying (in vain) to unload many carts of new merchandise to stock shelves while at the same time manning the checkout. I asked if her DM knows about this situation and she replied “Oh the company knows but they just don’t care.” This is unacceptable! DG employees should unionize or stage nationwide walkouts!

They didn't even touch on the danger some employees are in in some neighborhoods. They put up barriers for covid, but when employees were getting robbed at gun point or punched in the face, DG didn't even give their employees a pay raise.

As a former DG manager I will say they purposely understaff. I let alone was stuck working shifts open to close everyday and was stuck by myself while the other cashier went to lunch and left the building. WHICH IS NOT SAFE. My store had over 1 mil in revenue and that was in MARCH. But yet they were not willing to hire another person.I eventually was fired because I was caught saving merchandise and donating it to a homeless shelter. Shows you how greedy this corporation is and the ceo does not care.

Living Wage... Heck I don't think these been an actual living wage raise since the 70's. That's including SS/SSI/SSDI raises.

Here is the deal, you accepted whatever they offered and then you complain. If you want a living wage get a skill that pays more want a living wage for a minimum wage position stocking shelves and running a cash register....once again you made the choice to work there knowing the terms of employment.

I recall when I was younger and got a job at Target. Every day there was a team meeting to discuss general stuff going on with our store and any news about the management(when they were going on vacation/having babies etc.).

Day after day we were told that our store was one of the most successful and how much profit we were generating for the company. On my yearly review I was told that I was one of the key factors to the success of this store and that I'll be receiving near max of what they can give as a yearly raise, minus what they believe was my ability to improve myself. $.24... Mutlibillion dollar company couldn't even give me a full quarter.

HR seeing that I was disappointed told me not to worry as the States minimum wage was going up and I'll get a nice bump. Verifying that I would have my previous raises ontop of the mandatory I was denied. I gave them my notice that I'm out during my yearly evaluation after receiving the largest raise of the typical floor employees. Years later I was happy to see they flopped when they tried to get into Canada.
