I like these drills but caution that the wall tends to train you for downward moving passing shots. Not uncommon but you need to practice with topspin and slice shots that are still moving up at contact. Also, I don't believe it's good to time the step with contact. Better to have smoother continuous body momentum to deal with balls coming at different speeds so you don't mixed up the timing.

Very good. It's my first time knowing that the wall can greatly improve the volley skill. Many thanks to the coaches.

Federer may be making this drill popular again with his recent wall-volley video.

Great drills! I disagree with the timing the landing of the front foot with contact though. This concept stops momentum. I see pros landing with their front foot after contact majority of the time. This concept assists in carrying momentum through.

Looks like a good way to pop up the volley and get it smashed back at you

We want to install a tennis wall at home. We note the wall in the video is concave in shape. In addition to concave walls, vertical walls and sloped walls (typically 8 or 9 degree angles) are available. We have enough room to build a court that is 10 meters long (distance from wall). As a tennis instructor, do you have a strong preference for the shape of wall (concave, vertical, 8-9 degree slope)? If two players desired to practice, would 4 meter width be sufficient? Thank you for your feedback!

the sound of them hitting to the wall sounds like the lumberjackers cutting trees in Age of Empires II

Anyone know how to make one of these walls for home use? Bummed my garage door isn't flat so that's not an option.

The only good thing about these exercises is eye-hand coordination.
