I disagree with Andrew.
there are times Beth lost in the series too, and there are women like Judit Polgar and Hou Yifan who literally crushed male chess players (ofc they're not number 1 in chess but they still dominated in chess.)
He completely just ignored the development Beth undergo throughout the whole series: overcoming her stubbornness, and drug addiction.
it's not a feminist Hollywood garbage, it's about the story of a girl who happened to just be good at a game where men usually dominates, and tries to win overcome trauma with the help of others (her friend Jolene, Harry Beltik, Alma, Mr. Shaibel, Townes. . . .)

His opinion is what I EXPECTED the show to be, but I gave a chance because I was really interested in the concept. I have now watched the show 3 times. It's really enjoyable and well-written. It addresses the struggles that females have in a male-dominated scene without beating us over the head with a woke message. Other movies and shows should take note
