The 'Double-Tap' Punch like Max Holloway

After you learn the basic punches, you will learn to change the tempo of your combos. Fighters like Max Halloway and Nate Diaz often use what Coach Vince refers to as "The Double-Tap" or punching with an off-beat rhythm. You will notice that this not only increases the speed of your punches, but you will land with a higher success rate, simply because the rhythm is different than your opponent's defense.

Double tap is also the technique to make sure zombies don't get back up

Saw this video about an hour and a half before my Muay Thai training and we happened to be sparring at the end of class. I’m probably on my second round and boom all of a sudden this video popped into my head and I decided to try it out. Not only did I land the combo probably 70% of the time but it was quicker than any jab my sparring partner could throw any it also set up a regular jab cross since he was looking for the quick one. Thanks Shane and Vince. #underdogs

Don’t let fear or difficulties stop you or make you quit, try it, conquer it and you’ll see it’s not as scary or difficult as it looks

Could you do a video on Samart? His fighting style is so unique and the way he abuses his jabs and teeps is devastating

What about videos on inside fighting? Like Henry Armstrong, or how James Toney fought on the inside

this reminded me of when i thought i invented a technique... i would throw a jab and while rechambering the jab as it reached the middle between the face and back to chamber... i would step in further and throw the jab or this double tap that you are describing... this allowed me to throw either 2 jabs of more or less the same power(because the first one is a full jab without stepping too much and the second is with a dropstep but not from full chamber) or 3 rapid fire punches that ended in one of my main shots(i didnt have much time practicing boxing, only about a month) then i realised that the combination was in many boxing fights i had watch before... so, i didnt invent anything... but at least i had learnt a good combo

Can you make a video about improving punching power without equipment?

When I first started training this was a habit of mine due to me not fully retracting my jab and just trying to get the cross off, good to change up the pace of a counter attack

This is an amazing service you're providing these kids who simply want to defend themselves from bullies. Kudos to you! I would give these kids instructions though. You should make a video series. I can help you do that.

I think it works so well for max because he’s such a master of manipulating range

I think this is something Nate Diaz does with his looping cross after a jab

2:50 that's why marquez Lopez and even de la hoya practiced with the lead hand out front. I call it "wondering fist" aka "Mexican style"
