Hi,

I saw this bridge listed in Fender's Custom Shop catalog as a $50 add-on when ordering a guitar. What I'd like to know is if the bridge can be purchased outright?, or are they only offered if you have a guitar made through the shop?

Thanks.

What I meant to say, is that provided my special tele is made of a good piece of wood, since it's very well crafted with attention to detail(built like a rock, has the sweeetes tone unplugged), I don't think it's a lesser tele than the one demoed.Custom shop models few years ago had the texas special pups, and I see the greasebucket tone is back in favor

Yes, Chaz, I was also wondering about the amplifier.

 - But why does Mike Eldred, who persumably should be THE expert not, not tell us about one of the main features on this bridge  : Many of us love to pick the strings close to the saddles. What happens on the old-fashioned bridges ? You hit the edges on the metal around with the pick. So you miss the chance of using the e-string very much. On this bridge the risk of hitting the edges are minimized, due to the wider part around. This is very important. I plan on lowering the edges on one side on of my bridges in order to solve this problem. Of course you can just use the modern flat ones, but I feel there are some sonic issues here.  -- On the other hand, this bridge is not good looking because of the curve. I am sure it will not be popular. Looks and style have extremely high  priority.     PS I saw after I wrote this that this has been discussed partly before.

In this day and age where so many people are playing Teles fingerstyle (or fingers and a pick in combination) doing banjo rolls etc., you'd think Fender would have come out with a wide neck version of the Telecaster. Instead, a lot of guys like myself have had to go to suppliers like Warmouth to get a neck with a 1 3/4" nut width or thereabouts. I think Fender is really missing out on a sales opportunity.

Huh? Leo believed the bridge cover altered the magnetic field of the pickup, thus changing the sound.

I dog The Fender Custom Shop and Fender's laughable Abigail Ybarra rap but I admit I like that bridge. It's probably really comfortable to play but (and it's a big butt Simone) it really only amounts to more C.Shop funny money fun and games. See Marc Rutters or Joe Barden and about a thousand other companies for a tele bridge variation along these lines first. And no 'ashtray'?? That 'ashtray' gives scads of mojo(!) even if you never use it. It's essential case candy and attracts the ghost of Leo Fender to your guitar!
