How to skip all youtube ads on a smart tv

After doing this for about 6 months consistently on my TV, YouTube has started to push more and more ads to my tv that you cannot skip by using this method. Most are promoted ads such as "marines", "toxic therapy from your vape", and other big name ads. I wanted to shed some light since I didn't know this video existed, as I was looking for a way to bypass my current issue with youtube tv ads. 😅

I always skip when watching on laptop/browser simply by skipping forward to the next video and then clicking “back” on the browser and that has always worked but this will work a treat on tv

I used to do this but now it doesn't work unfortunately it only shows a qr code :(

Ive been doing this for months but they just changed it for me, now it says "block add" instead :( now i have to watch like 5 unskippable ads 💔..

Doing the up button plus menu it now sez block but it doesn't go back to the show. I unfortunately pressed block .

My mate showed me this while we were in the lounge on youtube and told me about it. Literally the next day it stopped showing the option and just a qr code. Kind of like the tv was listening...

This still works but you can’t skip EVERY ad with this method. Seems like YouTube only lets you do this a certain number of times til it forces you to watch an ad again. But it’ll let you do it again eventually. It’ll usually let me do it again after 2 or 3 ads.

Sorry to say, I did not find this clearly or logically presented. It needs to be able to be applied to other remote controls. There was no clear explanation nor any indication if the method partially described is temporary or permanent. I would like to encourage you to do another presentation taking into account the comments of viewers.

Not working, big QR code on the right and all the remote buttons do is bring up the ad timeline - I can't access the (i) or any side menu at all.

I'm trying to report a scam ad (Makita) but obviously youtube has no problem with scamming it's users...
