The price of gasoline in Mumbai today Rs 112/ltr. And its $4.18/gal in US which translates to $1.104/ltr which in turn translates to Rs 88.24. Price of petrol in India is more than what it is in US. By this its easy to that if India is buying Russian oil at a cheaper rate, the benefit of this cheaper purchase is definitely not being transferred to its population. And if that's the case, the inflation has to be the same as it is in US if not worst. I am a layman. Am I being too simplistic with this math or is there something I am missing in my logic?

While Rupee Ruble arrangement is welcome but there is no need to criticize USD. We need USD for our commerce and investment with the rest of the world. Let us not forget that Indo Russia trade is a small portion of our overall trade and services. We are friends with both the West and Russia!! And we should push for rupee trade with all south Asian countries, Iran etc. as an independent measure and not because we hate USD dominance!
