I had both the Anker and Mophie and returned them both. My reasoning was that they both got very hot in my pocket which was a big downside. Although they work well for charging I just couldn’t get over the heat against my leg or butt. I am now using the Apple version and it is growing on me with how easy it is to use.

Now if Apple sold this at 49, 99 it would be an instant all time classic hit. I still don’t understand wtf are the execs at Apple thinking.

It is surprisingly good on the mini. It doesn’t feel awkward to hold it together with the mini. And it extends the battery life of the mini to more than a pro-max battery life seamlessly.

iPhone 12 Pro Max already has amazing battery life, this just gives you that extra few hours, I like it because I care about my devices battery health, and this seems to keep your battery healthy

For a person that works daily on their iPhone and Mac, I enjoy all the battery packs you mentioned. I used the Mophie a lot more but I am an Apple fan boy, so anything Apple, I support and constantly use the product. Great review!

Love the video! The only thing I think you missed was the fact that the MagSafe battery pack keeps the phone in mobile mode and won’t start doing power hungry processes that normally happen when plugged in at home. One of the most fair and honest videos out there that leave it to the viewer whether it’s a good product for them. Not assuming you know everyone’s use cases 🙃

I got to test mine out quite thoroughly for a week while on vacation, and I think it's a must-have for the 12 Mini. Really handy while out and about without a phone charger. Yes, the charge is slow when compared to something like a power bank, but it's much smaller and lighter and you can use your phone very easily while it's charging since there's no cord. I've personally found that the best way to use it is to slap it on your phone when you're at a full charge, not when your battery is low. This way you're using the brick's power first, instead of slowly charging a dead phone. While I don't see the practicality of a QI battery brick for regular day-to-day use (I have chargers at my desk and in my car), I do think it's great for situations where you may not have access to an outlet (hiking, beach, airport, etc). The reverse charging feature is nice since you can charge your phone and the brick at the same time with one lightning cable. I think that feature alone makes it easy to justify the apple version over a 3rd party. Overall I'm happy with it and I recommend it.

None of the other reviews I’ve found mention the iOS integration with the Apple MagSafe pack. That alone is enough for me, tbh.

I think I’d rather pay the $100 for the MagSafe battery pack for the integration, the smartness it has when reverse charging, & for the nice shiny smooth look & design it has. Thanks for the awesome detailed reviews of each battery pack!

I may wait until the next model before I get a MagSafe battery pack. I also hope they release a new model AirTag that’ll support bitter coating batteries!

I just realized if someone bought iPhone 13 mini and the MagSafe battery pack it would be the same price as iPhone 13.

I chose the Magsafe pack and happy with it!

If you're using this with a mini, beware that the white color of the battery will cause white flares when using the flash. I had to put a black tape on the battery where it's closest to the flash.

This battery with features only works on the 12 and newer. The XR doesn't get the features.

Just got mine after getting a 30000mah ravpower bank. Sometimes you just need something that is more compact!

Excellent video! I just ordered my Apple Battery Pack from Amazon for just $70 and I can’t wait to use it on my iPhone 14 Pro Max!

When you use normal wireless charging you do not use the phone whilst doing it. This is the presumption if you use the MagSafe battery pack and is clearly sensible. If you are using to recharge I would just slap it on in quiet times and let it charge 20% or so, and do that 2-3 times a day to get through long days, that is, how you normally use wireless charging pads at home or in the office? I think people have misunderstood what this is, it is not to compete with a normal USB battery pack.

I think that those that realise what the pack is about, it was never meant to compete with 20, 000 mAh packs, it is there to give you that extra 4h SoT a day if you are a heavy user, so around 10h for all iPhones. This should cover 99% of users as not many people will be using their phone more than 10h a day? So the extra 50% charge the other ones provide really are not that relevant apart from very heavy users.

The main issue is whether it is worth $100 and that is subjective as to whether having a certified MagSafe product is worthy of the extra cost. I think many will see it as a solid investment especially as it is likely to be interchangeable for many generations. None of these are perfect as this is a relatively new product line. Glad that Apple is offering us the choice even though it is niche. I am sure Android OEMs will be coming out with magnetic connectors (OPPO launching one soon).

I bought 3 MagSafe Battery Packs to rotate between home and work to always have a fully charged one available.

Thank you for this video! I thought my new MagSafe battery pack was defective because a few seconds after plugging it in the amber light turned off and it never turned to green once it reached 100%. I figured it would stay lit up while plugged in like the MagSafe charger for MacBooks.

Am I the only one who finds it entertaining the way the reviewer pronounces the word "on"?

Isn’t the MagSafe battery supposed to be left on the phone from the beginning of the day? That’s how the instructions explain it. It’s a battery extender, not charger.
