As a 5yr former Best Buy employee I can confirm this to be true, the “Black Friday ONLY” models would always get returned.

I always love a great Black Friday deal at Dell. They will give you great price on their warranty and they will throw in a free laptop with it.

If you're buying for Best Best or other stores with a good price match policy, keep track of your laptop model for like 30days.
I bought my Omen for $1549 CAD at BB, then 10 days later it went on sale and discount-coded on HP directly for $1349. BB price matched it and gave me back the differene + tax. I was so happy lol.

Eber, pretty good tips. You probably should have had a caveat on the price history argument that we are in a period of supply chain shortages and inflation so waiting for the price over a year back to reoccur is a fool’s errand.

Lenovo has literally great value for money. They have a student store here in the UK which allows you to get discounted products that aren’t on their regular sale section, which is great. They’re having a sale atm and I got legion pro 5 with rtx 3060 16GB ram and ryzen 5 5600h for £940.

Lenovo has such a good sale in the US. In Germany we have a mere 25% discount on the X1 Carbon model.

Great video Ebert!!! I've been telling clients this all the time, of what to look for in a so called new laptop. Finally someone is repeating what I've been saying for years, and from people who have a huge following (you guys). Thank you, y'all are AWESOME 👍🤠

I grabbed a 3060 laptop with 11th gen i7 8 core for 1199 USD was pretty happy. Working great for 1440p gaming with OBS replay buffering in the background.
slapped an SSD in the extra m.2 slot and upgraded the ram to 64gigs cuz the ram was only 30 dlls more expensive vs the 32gb variant.

Don’t remember the last time I bought tech on Black Friday. Most of the tech I want I cannot get

This is compounded by the current market for consumer goods in general. It pains me when I look on reddit and folks are posting things like "Look I just scored a G15 w/ 3070 for 1600$" - thinking they got $300 off. It was $1550 at launch as MSRP. Companies have done an excellent job getting consumers to swallow higher prices as "normal". Just makes normal BF shenanigans all the more disgusting.

In short: 3rd party refurb'd Macbooks can be a nightmare. Don't shop on Amazon. Don't trust before/after prices.

Great, informative video that confirms what I suspected all along. Price inflation is a shamelessly predatory practice and these price trackers are really a godsend.

The old caveat emptor. I'm reminded of how I've kind of been wanting to upgrade my living room tv. I'm in no hurry, but I do watch the market pretty regularly. One area of interest to me that is almost always in "Black Friday" deals at Amazon are Roku or Fire tv's, so I thought maybe I'd see at least a marginal improvement on some deals, but so far all of the "specials" I see are offered at pretty much the same discount that seems to be on about 75% of the time.

I've always wondered which plug-in was being used for the embedded in browser on web page cost analysis. Great video as usual.

May I ask what audio equipment you were using? The audio was absolutely phenomenal on this video. Was it the Sennheiser mic?

How poor consumer protection do you guys have over there?
If I'm buying anything from a Swedish retailer, they're the one who by law has to cover my consumer right, even if they're selling stuff for a third party company.
If I'm buying refurbished, used things, they're still the ones responsible that my things work.

If I order anything from a retailer online (or through phone), I always have 14 days, no question return, starting from the date I received the package. I can open the box, try the item out, and still return it - no questions asked. If the product is damaged, or not what I expected, I can simply return it, 100% free of charge.

This is the sad truth. And most of the time right after the "BFS" the prices will just go back to normal. BUY SMART!
