How I Learned The Hardest Tool in Blender

Learning Node-based tools can be so hard and can just look like a page full of random boxes. Today I want to show you how I learned to Look at Geometry Nodes that help simplify the whole tool and make learning it on my own so easy! Then we will build a whole model with that new mindset and structure. #geometrynodes #blender3d #motiongraphics

I can relate to your thought process. Getting comfortable with the basics reduces mental chatter by ~90%.

Thank you, Ducky 3D, for the excellent new course on Geometry Nodes in Blender!
It’s been incredibly helpful and has really opened up new possibilities for my projects.
Your teaching style makes everything so easy to follow.
Keep up the amazing work! 👍

Thanks for sharing. This is one of the very few channels that put out advanced Blender content.

Thanks for sharing, hope your class takes off. Even as an intermediate blender user I can always watch your videos and learn at least one more "trick"

Today, it was dual mesh turning quads to hex. Good stuff!

Amazing to see your thought process of approaching something new. Since geometry nodes is constantly being updated with new nodes I feel like this is so important to know. thank you for sharing this with us ducky <3

This looks like a variation of the "Entagma" course on Geonodes. I love how you modified it to make it your own. Good content as usual.

I like how in the UE5 node trees, you can click on the "purple" nodes and they'll turn into three "grey" nodes, so you don't need a combine-xyz to manipulate just one entry. Makes it a little cleaner.

But this is a great thought process. Especially since once you've figured out one of these formulae, you can screenshot the nodes for it and just save it off to the side somewhere tagged with whatever you think you'd search for to find it later, or have it in a separate blender file to look up.

This is the sort of tutorial that works way better for me. Not "here follow along this and try to figure out the general ideas" but "here's the general ideas now watch me apply them."

10:30 Here's what i *think* is happening: The reason the Normals "break" is that Normal vectors are vectors that are perpendicular to a surface and a point doesnt have a surface. The diamond shaped Field sockets are contextual to whatever they are connected *to* so the Normal-node, connected to the Points through the IOP-node, is trying to pull the normal information from the points. By Capturing the Normal information between the Dual mesh and Extrude, you get the Normal information of the Dual mesh faces to the IOP-node.

Really enjoy your content Ducky! Gonna have to invest in your course. I want to get better at using geometry nodes. I get your thought process of thinking through the question of what you're trying to do. My thing is thinking through all the nodes to find the one that accomplishes your goal. Doesn't this take understanding what all these nodes do? Have to admit my brain has a hard time wrapping around geometry nodes.

Blender's Geometry node's logic is very simple. it is like Getting data > Manipulating data > Setting data. node to node. but those formula hard to remember for a beginner. If search anything related to geomatry node your video comes first.

Hey Ducky thanks for the new course I have seen many of your videos it's really useful but I find it very abstract related work can you upload videos or do a course which has practical use case in an work environment of a 3d designer/animator for SaaS products like Microsoft animation videos etc I think that would be more useful for many 3d animators. Who are trying to do animations like that in blender rather than cinema 4d.
