Why We Need A National Popular Vote

Twice this century, the loser of the popular vote has won the presidency.

Luckily, there's a plan to make sure that never happens again.

Emphasis should be on the NATIONAL popular vote in this explanation. My wife and I had to listen to this several times in order to get it! Once you get it, you understand that it is the national popular vote and not an individual state’s popular vote. Every vote in every state is included in the national popular vote.

If our constitution says we the people then I support we abolish the electoral college and have the national popular vote choose the candidate. Having a nationally popular vote will make sure our votes are counted and it will make our voices heard a lot better.

I'm in Alabama, nothing's gonna happen. They voted in a racist football coach over a civil rights attorney as senator. My state is a failure.

Absolutely.... the popular vote should take precedence. Let us get rid of the electoral college which is simply there to benefit corporate power and the very very rich.

The next most likely states seem to be PA and AZ, if we win their state senates and AZ’s legislature in 2024. That would add PA’s 19 EV’s and AZ’s 11, which will bring the count to 250. Cmon, we literally need only a handful of seats total to win a trifecta in both.

As a non-American, the biggest obstacle for fair elections in America is the Electoral College. Next is abolishing voter registration. That's SO weird as well. Then you're in desperate need of opening more voting places, so people don’t have to wait in line in order to cast their votes.

Sadly Republicans will never be on board with this -- it takes away their unearned electoral advantage. I also don't see major swing states doing it either, since they also benefit from the Electoral College by receiving more attention from candidates.

Can you imagine the founders, who were all educated and noble men, but they were able to ignore their conscience and put their thumb on the scale to build a 3/5ths weighting into national elections? Sigh... Eugenics was very much alive and well at the time.

We absolutely need to do this. The electoral college needs to go, even if it's done with a loophole. It's archaic and incredibly bias.
