As someone who lived in New York & Sydney. I can tell you that Sydney is *NOT* a 24 hour city. It barely qualifies as a 8 hour city.

Went to Sydney last year. Had a night out bar hopping and I remember being surprised that we were home by 10 PM 😂 Here in the Philippines, I am usually out until 5 AM when we go bar hopping.

From what I hear from some slightly older people Sydney used to be a 24 hour city but lockout laws legit stopped that and destroyed the nightlife experience. Clubs close at 2-3 and Can’t enter a club after midnight. Which stopped bar hopping. A lot of small businesses and bars used to Thrive in kings cross based on the night life and Sydney was known internationally for its nightlife. Now all thoes bars and that shut down. Man people used to leave the club when the sun came up regularly apparently it was pretty legendary but a few too many fights made politicians destroy a whole economy and we only have a few shit clubs left no room for variety. U gotta search hard for smaller events at smaller places now to have a good night

If I was young I would move from Sydney, it was completely different in the 90s with crazy late night establishments in Darlinghurst and Kings Cross.

You can see everything worthwhile in 24 hours and still get a decent night's sleep.

I was so confused that everything closes so early in the evening in Sydney. As a German, I already live in a world where everything is closed on Sundays and "early" in the evening, but Sydney stores close even earlier 😂 but they are open on Sundays, so I give them that.
