I went and got a routine physical the other day. I was at the doctor's for less than an hour, and they took some blood for general health screenings. They charged me roughly $1000 FOR A ROUTINE PHYSICAL. Luckily my insurance payed most of that and I only payed a little over $100. But many Americans in this country do not have health insurance. Even with health insurance many cannot afford their copays or deductible. We need access to affordable care in this country, we need to stop making insurance companies rich and we need to stop overpaying on medical care. We need universal access to health care regardless of individual ability to pay. With the cost of everything going up people cannot afford basic necessities. This is obvious and COVID especially highlighted how vulnerable our health infrastructure is.

There is also the problem with the rise of health costs and a lot of people losing their insurance thanks to being fired, and therefore not having money to have all the exams and doctors appointments that would be needed during their pregnancy.

But MOST importantly, how does this affect trans women?

it is rather bad form that the report does not take into account the fertility rate changes in ages of women. Much of the reported statistic that went up since 2020 spiked in 2021 and declined in 2022. Yet so did the trend of pregnancy between women of 18 and 34 and 35+ shift considerably. In summery the lack of access to abortion would not yet have impacted to any measurable degree yet. Usually takes 2 to 4 years of consistent data to put together those types of charts. It would also require federal funding and qualified organizations to take up the desire to do so. So the nearest reports we may see on the matter may be at the end of 2024 or 2025.
