My favorite man made Island is Ile Notre-Dame in Montréal, Québec. As Montréal built the underground Métro lines in the early 1960's, the dirt and rocks were dumped next to Ile-Hélène in the Saint-Lawrence River. The first project helped a second major project, Man and His World exposition opening in 1967. Ile Notre-Dame was also used for the 1976 summer Olympics. Today it is a park and home of The Canadian Formula One race.
