I had a bicycle accident in the late 1980s (No helmet) and my head hit the concrete very hard. 12 years after I had a full stroke. I was OK for several years then I almost passed out and my heart went into A-fibrillation. Fast and hard. my breathing mechanism seemed to be damaged and I had several other uncomfortable symptoms. 6 months later my muscles began to waste. I couldn't tolerate exercise. I was out of breath all the time and tired. The doctors didn't car and dismissed it to anxiety. 8 years later my muscles have waisted away much more and I haven't been able to exercise since it happened. I found out a stroke can do nerve damage. My muscles snap, crackle and pop like the cereal. My muscles also feel like they move around. Very frustrating. I read information about Phrenic nerve damage and I saw the video about David and I now believe I have phrenic nerve injury. It also looks like there could be treatment for me. I am 60 and have no life right now. I must now seek this doctor to get tested and get treatment.

I am exactly like you used to be, and I need help. I have a paralyzed vocal cord due to a total thyroidectomy and went to therapy, which did very little. I knew it had to be something else. All my lung function tests were normal. I still have children to raise and live all the way in Ohio. Did your insurance pay for this? I'm on Medicare, and it probably won't. Thanks, Ladies, for the sounding board! And maybe hope....

She said she could not breath if she sleeps on her side of the lung that isn't working that's what I have. I have been told for years I had an elevated right diaphragm but since I had it for long time doctors said nothing to worry about. This year I found a new doctor and he wanted to find out why it was elevated sure enough the diaphragm isn't working results from a Sniff Test. That's why I have been using a cpap machine, and I can't catch my breath going up stares. I have never had any surgery's I think the injury could have happend years ago in the 1980;s when I had a bad dirt bike accident all this time I didn't notice it still not sure. I can remember in my early 30's about 15 years ago my O2 levels were never below 98% in the last 5 years I have noticed I can only get above 95 if I breath really deeply. Next week I go for an MRI to look see where the issues is if that can be fixed.
