David Lynch Presents Interview Project: Amber

We met Amber at the hotel that we were staying at. She immediately struck us as an interesting subject to interview and once she agreed we set up the cameras in the parking lot. Amber told us about her deep devotion to her family and the things she has learned from them. Amber is considering going into the military, something which many of her family members have also done. Although this concerns her dad, Amber feels that if she chooses to go into the Armed Services she will be able to pay for college and secure a future for herself. When the interview was complete we wished Amber well and turned in for the night.

This is exactly the kind of girl my son is looking for. He also wants four children. My heart aches for him in the current dating climate, to be in college and serious about wanting to be a man and have a wife and family at his age of 19. It's really uplifting to see there are young women who wish the same. God bless you, Amber. RIP David Lynch💚

David lynch saved my life !!! After my grandma died 7 years ago I could not interact with life in general but his films and soundtracks and original music got me through my grief!!

It never ceases to amaze just how much you can learn about a person by listening. Hopes, dreams, values. She looks a bit like a young Mary Elizabeth Winstead. And there's a little bug crawling up the wall about a minute into the video.

David is a genuine guy. When I was in my twenties I recorded an interview with he and Frank Herbert, author of the Dune series. It took place at his offices in the Valley. David brought me coffee and was a great host. That was back in 1985.

I love that even your simple interviews have an air of disquiet. It's a crying shame there's no career path in charity that pays well, as that's likely needed more in our lives than military might right now.

I don't know if it was actually there, or added in later. But I liked the bug crawling up the wall.

It reminds me Krzysztof Kieślowski's "Talking Heads" ("Gadające głowy") from 1980.

Mr. Lynch, thank you for these videos. I wish I could give you my lung. As soon as I knew who you were, I respected you! I was ten years old when I saw The Elephant Man. That was my first cry in a movie theater. I have loved being confounded by your films. I can’t pick a favorite because they are all my favorite. Your Dune looks even better now than it did then. Lost Highway. Blue Velvet. Wild at Heart. My uncle was Jack Haley. I hope you are well.

This feels like Twin Peaks to me in a weird way. It's shining light on people's stories. I really like this.

I liked the headlights of the vehicle lighting the scene. Reminded me of something Roger Corman said about it....for his crew to use, when they weren't going to get any hmi's or 5K's or whatever, just because maybe they couldn't afford it? You make do with what you have. You find someone oh at the motel you're staying in...right. Who's this? Let's interview, get it going. What a sweet wonderful person we met.

For some reason these interviews connect me back with The Straight Story. They have all been fascinating people.

The innocence of youth. Would be interesting to see a follow up in 5 to 6 years.
