YES! You SHOULD Play The War Within - What You NEED To Know

The War Within gets its full release in only a few short hours, but we've already been playing around during early access and seeing what's in store. Should you play The War Within? Yes, yes you should... but this expansion is NOT like the others.

Hoping the story picks up eventually because after the Isle of Dorn is still feels like the same old same old. A guy changes his entire world view and forgets a millennia-long grudge after two quests lol

Blizzards whole schtick now is “we’ve turned a new leaf” yet my character has been sitting in Valdrakken, with game time and the expansion purchased, unable to play all weekend while most of my guild is on their 2nd or 3rd alt.

The launch, one of the most fun and exciting times for a new expansion, has been tainted, and it’s bullshit.

The narrative being in an 8 week long, 30 minutes at a time campaign is what scares me. I absolutely have despised that type of story telling in WoW's previous expansions, with the exception of maybe when they did it for Suramar, because that at least made narrative sense. Is that still the case going into the War Within, do they give us 5 hours of narrative then time gate everything after that?

I feel like every time Preach says "narrative focused MMO" it's code for "this sucks balls, see you in 3 months for the blizzard teardown once we're all on the same page"
also yeah, early access cost was terrible and they should feel bad for selling it

I'm not gonna hold this one against you, you prob got paid really well by Blizz like other creators, and a man's gotta get paid with a family; still, i played through the story as a big lore nerd, and unfortunately, it's just more Dragonflight disney style story except this time they're coming for the cool characters and removing them on purpose to make way for more boring and forced characters. There's a reason Metzen emphazised in his interview that he didn't work on this. It really shows he didn't.

PS: Just to note, I have watched the ENTIRE story stream series Preach did, and I did not see anything outstanding in the story either. Void elf mommy is spooking everyone like a WoW Sephiroth, Anduin going through a generic "you gotta believe in yourself" arc EXTREMELY quickly (not to mention that the emotional support is done by a completely new character instead of a well established one), Alleria is basically Tyrande 2.0...I just don't see anything gripping. There is no deep, rich meaning behind the story, there is no moral conflict, there is no emotional resonance. It basically feels like a generic "Mwahaha I'm evil -- No we believe in the Light and you will not win!" Disney story. Legion was a masterpiece of storytelling in comparison. And it's over in 3-5 hours. How is this worthwhile content?

Not to mention it is an insane thing to ask 60-90$ for an expansion with a promise of "there is basically not much gameplay wise BUT THE STORY IS NOT AS BAD AS BEFORE!" +sub +tip.

If we go by what you recommended Preach - that we should treat this expansion differently from other expansions in the past, as otherwise it will miss the mark - then don't you think it was an instant failure to choose the money grab of early access instead of ensuring as many people as possible would experience it?

Im sorry. I love your content but defending that we should give this a shot with a new pair of eyes when blizz themselves are fooking us over makes no sense

I'm a solo player, i've tried going into WoW to find a guild, when i do it's dead or the officers are absolute cancer machines. I think it's joever for me as, i don't have streamer privillage and, i don't want to do mythic + in pugs like a fucking looney-bin

Was very much hoping for papa thrall to be the one to help anduin and also help himself in doing so. Would have been really interesting seeing a friendship/mentorship develop between a shaman who's lost touch with the elements and a paladin who's lost touch with the light... Both being former rulers too etc.. The set up for that could have been amazing, they help each other find themselves and move on from their trauma/guilt and in doing so rekindle their connection to the elements/light, thrall redeems himself by mentoring a ruler who isn't a complete psychopath and anduin redeems himself and returns as the king. What we got instead was not great... Hoping we see more Anduin/Thrall interacting in the future :/

Early access cost is horrible - Blizzard posted spoilers on socials. This doesn't feel good. It's not fun.

Mike’s 180 on WoW and Blizzard after one mid expansion is insane. $50 for a few short hours of campaign that’s supposed to last for 6-10 months until the next patch is unacceptable.
