The Sony A6000 in 2022 - Is it Worth it?!

Is the 8 year old Sony A6000 worth buying in 2022?
In this video I talk about one of my favourite cameras I've ever used, the Sony A6000 and whether it's worth considering in 2022.

Also I say "Fantastic" a lot. Virtual cookies to those of you who can tell me how many times I say it in this video😂
All of these images except one were edited with my "Clearly Autumn" preset from my free preset pack.

Sony a6000 is my first camera and absolutely loved it. It is still the one I would recommend to anyone who wants to start out camera (if they can find a used one). A great bang for buck. Nice video, buddy!

Focus peaking is a great feature of this and other Sony cameras. It means you can use vintage lenses and let the camera outline what's in focus as you turn the focusing ring. I use a mixture of vintage and modern lenses and I've found this feature very useful.

I purchased mine in 2014 and am just now learning how to use it and take photos. Have not shot more than a 100 pics with it your video reminds me why photography is so vital and perfect. It makes us look at objects and reminds that beauty abounds. Subscribed and will watch more if your stuff as a learning aid and enjoyment. Thanks for sharing

You said it early on in the video...it still holds up! Great camera! Slap a great piece of glass on it and who gives a crap how old it is, it still rocks! Fantastic images, especially the one at 4:46 with that beautiful light) and loved the lone tree at 11:33. Great stuff David!

I had an Nikon d700 with 50mm and a 70-200mm and i did mostly model-sessions. Both studio and locations. the camera with the 70-200 had a weight of 2.3kg and i started to feel it in my shoulders.

Looked around and i started to look at the a6000 or the a7 (first version). sold the d700 and got my self a a6000 with a 50mm 1.8 oss and a sony converter A mount to E mount since i had 35, 50 and 85mm sony A lenses.

Its amazing. Now i can hold a coffee-cup in one and and do almost everything with one hand when beeing lazy. Its a good camera that is doing amazing in studio and for street photos. I love it.

I owned at least one a6000 for around 6 years, two at one stage. I upgraded to an a7rii and sold one a6000. Sold the last a6000, plus the a7rii last year and purchased an a6400, plus I have an a7iii. Loved using the a6000, coming from shooting Pentax digital cameras it was a revelation. I mostly use vintage lenses nowadays, only have three af lenses left.

The a6000 is a great cam. I have mine since years and it still does a great job. I even use my old NEX-5 sometimes. 14, 2 Megapixels are more than enough especially in street photography. Personally I don’t need advanced video features or even 4k. I’m more that still image guy 😉👍

Dave! Great video mate and great to see you out and about in the woods again. I thought we had eternally lost you to the world of neon light night street photography 🙂🙂 lighter days on the horizon hopefully mean easier conditions for all of us. I shot those trees at the end of my last vlog they’re a great subject. Happy new year matey

Still My daily camera: lighweight, compact, decent Focus speed and good image Quality, why should I change it? Love the a6000

I agree with you that the a6000 is a great camera. I still own it, but as I shoot with vintage lenses (minolta's, Tokina, Samyang (not vintage)), I love its stabelazed sensor, because these vintage lenses, how good they are, have no inbody stabelization.

I have the a6000, and the a6300 and love shooting with it. I also have both the lenses used in the video, the sigma 30mm art is my goto lens most of the time.

Funnily enough, the only AF lenses I've got for my GX80 are the set of 3 Sigma Art primes (19, 30 & 60mm), great little lenses at an awesome price when I got mine - they don't get used much lately because I'm always using vintage lenses now, but if I was going out and about to shoot stuff fast, they'd be straight back on the camera. I'm impressed with those Sony mirrorless cameras - if I was starting again, I'd probably go down that route, but for now I'll stick with what I've got. Nice shots by the way.

One fact that is never mentioned about the Sony a6000 is that it has the best 1080p of the entire line. The other records fantastic in 4k (almost any camera does) But if your videos are going to be seen on cell phone screens, notebooks and PC monitors.
Like most of the content. 1080p is enough. As for the dynamic range, they are 8-bit cameras. An important leap would be to go to 10 bits and we'll talk about something else. very good video Greetings

Great video 👍 new cameras are overrated. I still shoot with my 5D classic and I love it!

I'm shooting with dated equipment as well, currently using a Nikon D3400. I want to dip into sony cameras (mainly for better AF, the 11 AF points on the D3400 requires a lot of manual focusing), but getting new sets of lenses is going to hurt the bank account.
