Fun little experiment that I did: closing my eyes before seeing the tattoos and listening only to your descriptions so I could imagine what possible tattoos your friend has. Since you didnt talk about location much, I was just focused on what the tattoo looked like and less about how it conformed to a nonplanar canvas.

Then seeing and actually watching this again is a treat. Cause your expectations are being changed and you can compare the metal image with the actual tattoos.

Obviously impossible to do if you have already seen someone's tattoos.
