How does the German healthcare system work?

In this explanatory video, we explain the German healthcare system from the patient's perspective. How does statutory health insurance and the solidarity principle work? Who do patients turn to in an emergency? How can patients get involved in our system?

With this video, BAG SELBSTHILFE wants to help patients find their way around the German healthcare system better and thus receive the best possible care. The video was created as part of the project "Reaching people with a migration background for exchange in health-related self-help", funded by Barmer Krankenkasse, and is intended to contribute to health education.
