I live in a senior housing complex in Reno, my 535 sqft studio is $541, I pay for electric, about $30 monthly, WiFi internet is $35. Everything else is included in the rent. It is owned by the Reno Housing Authority. My rent is based off my monthly income which is about $2200. As a senior I am allowed to have assets as in my retirement account, savings and checking. I am allowed to earn $78, 000 a year to qualify for the apt. I have $0 debt so I'm living good in my olden years.

Thanks Steve, I thought Palm Springs was very expensive. I didn't know there are low budget options. Thanks for the info . Another great video 🎯

I use to visit weekends in Palm Springs when I was living in Phoenix and LA in my younger days and that was nice, but I think I'll be staying with my large studio apartment in Cambodia with a pool that costs less than $300 a month including utilities. Best wishes.

Thanks guys. All good info. We live in a very nice mobile home park in Las Vegas. We own the home and pay space rent. That is becoming more of an issue. We have been living here for 71/2 years. Space rent was 600 the first year but now with trash and water costs is pretty close to a thousand. Hard on a fixed income. Friends here thought of selling and renting but that was going to be close to 1500 to 2000 a month in a nice area. What do you do. Happy that you guys have a nice home there🙂

Thank You, great info here. I'm in "unaffordable" Seattle, cold here June 14th, 2023. I need the sun & looking to move to the greater PSP area! A tiny house would be PERFECT! FRUGAL is the way to be!

Hi Steve and Jim, I hope you're well. I know retirement is not easy, with bills etc. I will be 65 in December and hope to get my SS benefits then, I'm not sure tough. Have a blessed weekend 💞

It's important to calculate your costs during retirement. Limited income and/or savings will determine your ability to live the lifestyle you want or more accurately need. If you're poor, don't even think of a place like Palm Springs. Think of Needles or perhaps some of the desert communities in AZ. Cold states require big outlays for heating during the winter. Plan ahead.

I live in CA, the bay area. Your grocery costs are lower. I own my home-mortgage about $800. Utils have been brutal this winter-$300 a month. Internet /RokuTv $60. Smartphone $35, Property Tax $7000 annual. Water $30. We still pay Income Tax though I'm 70 and retired-_Some states have no income tax. I don't eat out much, basically a homebody. I love the desert area like Palm Springs, it's just the high heat I can't tolerate and living with air conditioning most of the time. My sister wants me to move where she lives bNew Hampshire but thats too snowy and cold. So even though I live alone, for now it's ok. And also I'm gay and I like our Democratic majority government as opposed to what I see happening in states with Republican majority government. (like Florida, Tx. Az).

Oh wow, Palm Springs rentals are way more reasonable than I thought. I live in Portland Maine, which I don't think people think of as a super expensive city, but the average price of a 1br apartment is about $1800, and if your budget is under $2.5k you're probably going to be fighting with 100 other people for each apartment you apply for. I've talked to a lot of people trying to move here for jobs they've been offered but they can't find a place to live so they have to turn the job down. I'm lucky that rent control is saving my butt and I'm only paying $1200 for the tiny apartment I've lived in for 8 years. I've been looking at more affordable places to move to, and California wasn't on my list but maybe Palm Springs should be.

UK's price for petrol (Gasoline) is almost $7. It's around $6.70 on average. We are having a tough time over here compared to the USA. I love all of your content, by the way!

THANKS for this! I was going to contact you to ask that question (about the cost to retire in PS)!

I’ve been looking at condos; the prices aren’t THAT bad, but the HOA fees are kind of pricey!
