About the Palisades™ Pack

The Palisades Pack puts the deepest of backcountry within reach for you and your dog. Our highest-volume pack, it's designed for multi-day treks with roomy saddlebags that host a cross-load compression system for stable, comfortable gear carry. The saddlebags attach securely to a breathable harness chassis, and can be removed at camp to lighten the load for side-excursions.

Multiple pockets and an external daisy chain store and organize your dog's trekking necessities like a sleeping system, food, and even two collapsible hydration bladders that come with the pack.

What's new with the latest design updates? The Palisades has a long history in the Ruffwear pack lineup, and this season's updates were inspired by customer feedback. More breathability and flexibility with a perforated, molded foam chassis; improved fade-resistance with new materials; updated "flopper stopper" system for easier use when stabilizing saddlebags, new stash pocket configuration.

It’s recommended that your dog carry no more than 25% of their body weight, including pack weight and its contents. If your dog is new to dog packs, start with a light load and work up to a heavier load as your dog gets used to wearing the pack.

I just got mine today. They seem great the only concern is the plastic belt buckles. They seem average. Might fail. At this price I would prefer metal buckles or even better an eyelet belt system. My huskies pull heavy, so plastic buckles are a big no no, I don't want to lose my babies in the mountains. All other features are excellent and the free water bottles is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend these for not sled trained dogs. I trained my dogs to pull from a young age.

good to see the adjustability of this pack. I tried some of the lesser models as well as other brands in multiple sizes and none of them fit my dog, they either fit in the chest but not the waist or didn't fit in the chest. He's got a barrel chest and a small waste like the dog in this demo so it is encouraging to see it fit a dog with that type of frame. might have to cough up the bucks for this one.

Why is it that with every new model of Ruffwear the quality goes way down!! Find the old model, it’s much better than this new version.
