Welcome to Villa Leopolda-- the most expensive private home in Europe and the third most expensive residence in the world! Worth an estimated $750 million, the French villa has quite the history-- it’s been a King’s gift to his mistress, a military hospital, the personal estate of a widowed billionaire, and it’s so expensive that a Russian billionaire tried to back out of buying it at the last minute.

You can immediately see Villa Leopolda’s history by heading inside and taking in all the art, historic architecture and vintage furniture. The house as it stands today was designed by American architect Ogden Codman, Jr., who’s responsible for adding the mansion’s gorgeous pool. The estate, also known as La Leopolda, was designed with everything to meet a billionaire’s needs-- there’s a bowling alley, movie theater, sports court, spacious garage, and even a helipad.

The most recent owner of the home is Lily Safra, though billionaire Bill Gates has also been a rumoured buyer. However, the home’s most famous resident is also who it’s named after. King Leopold II of Belgium was the one who first bought the land where the historic villa sits and turned it into a lavish vacation home where he could get away from his wife.

The pictures don't do the location justice and the information and photos are not all correct. I spent many months at Villa Leopolda. I was responsible for the security design and operations of the location, the Safra family along with global responsibilities for their bank. It has always been a very private location with limited access to only the rich and famous and heads of countries. I am glad to see this presentation is available to the public, it is truly a phenomenal location. It was a very interesting and challenging time for me, and it was great to see it again. Thank you.

finally someone who did his research and actually included pictues of the actual interior (because most stuff youll find isnt actually this house)
also you correctly pointed out that this house in its current form was made after king leopold II owned it and died

but theres actually one undercover house that isnt famouse but perhaps even more expensive and not too far away from villa leopolda- im talking about chateau balsan in eze

although villa fiorentina is probably close there too- previous owner (curt engelhorn, before he died) supposedly declined an offer from lakshmi mittal of 555 million USD and said hed might accept offers starting at 800 million $, but looking at villa les cedres going from rumors of being listed at 1.3 Billion € to actually being for sale for 350 million €, to selling for 200 million €, to rinat akhmetov makes me think that most of these places would realistically sell between 300-500 million € for villa leopolda and 350-600 million € for villa fiorentina
