Celebrated actor Michael J. Fox revealed that he believes he “did some damage” in the 1980s that eventually may have led to his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

The comment came on “CBS Sunday Morning” after Jane Pauley asked the actor about a speech he made when longtime friend Woody Harrelson presented Fox with an honorary Oscar at the 2022 awards show.

“We did some damage,” Fox said while Harrelson, 61, laughed onstage at the Academy Awards last year. “We did some damage in the ’80s.”

Pauley then questioned Fox — who reportedly drank cobra blood with Harrelson in Thailand in the late 1980s — about whether it was possible that he actually did do some “damage"
to himself.

“I mean, there’s so many ways that you can … that I could’ve hurt myself,” said Fox, 61. “I could’ve hit my head. I could’ve drank too much at a certain developmental period.”

I mean... he admits it. It would had been horrible in a way if he was living that in denial, but being honest to the self is a significant step.

Was it drugs or alcohol abuse.Or did someone do that to him at a party?

I have always thought this. But never seen him talk about it. But now it's clear. He was a big, big party guy, drinking all week long for many years, and surely also had his share of hard drugs. And they damage the nerve system immensely. If he had never taken these things, he would not have developed this disease.

I watched the interview and they posted a clip from 2017 in it.
Back then he could control the tremors better if he wasn't speaking..
In fact the interviewer mentioned that.

There is an episode of Family Ties where Tom Hanks smacks Michael J Fox and Fox falls to the ground and audibly smacks his head off the wood frame of the couch. I always thought that could have been the thing that triggered his Parkinson’s. Very sad.

For the most part, he's being honest! But I feel there is something he is holding back. I mean, he says ' chemical', what chemical? That could mean anything. It's an odd thing to say.
