Pine Siskin Test Flight

This Pine Siskin was brought to the CWRC as a result of a window strike. Birds hit windows quite often and the resulting injuries range from mild concussion to death. Some birds recover quickly and fly away almost immediately. For others it can take hours, days, weeks or even months to recover.

This bird took a few days to recover in the care of the CWRC. In the video we wanted to be sure it was able to fly before release. As all our enclosure are occupied, mostly with birds of prey, we opted for the bathroom as a place where we knew we'd be able to catch him once out of the cage.

He flew perfectly within the small space and was shortly transported back to where he was found and released.
