QwiizLabs ES40UR Fanless External USB4 NVMe SSD Enclosure

Показать описание
This is a high-speed USB 4 External SSD enclosure from Quiizlabs. It has read/Write performance in excess of 3000 MB/s and provides great heat dissipation. It is one of the fastest I have tested and rivals best-in-class for a better overall value.

Mike, thank you so much for making me aware of this enclosure. I have used up all of my allocated PCIE lanes with one gen 5 and a gen 4 internal drive. Any more internal drives and my GPU would lose half it's PCIE lanes so I had to resort to USB4 to expand storage. Paired the enclosure with a 4 TB Orico e7400. As I suspected, it gets closer to the 40Gbps limit, ~ 3600 MB/s on read and writes.

Easily the best drive enclosures of any type I have ever used. Thank you for your review here. On this and a few other videos, I bought two of these under a brand called Colorii (were they the original creators of this? Was it Hagbis? I think Quiizlabs is yet another downstream copy).

Massively impressed with the build quality and attention to detail. The design is fantastic, with beautifully cut CNC curves and anodized aluminum just like my MBP. The indicator light's rounded corners are all perfectly concentric. The illumination across the spatial area of the indicator light is smooth and perfectly even. The rubber feet are solid and grippy and pose no threat of coming off. The soft felt carrying bag included in the box is a delight. Even the cardboard box was finely constructed with the whole mechanism of the air vacuum forcing the inner box of contents to drop very slowly out of the lid, Apple style. Everything about this product is premium, except the price.

In any case, they're gorgeous, they run cool, and the ASM2464PD inside goes as fast as it does in any enclosure. On my base model M4 Mac Mini, they each get 3300 MB/s write and 3100 MB/s read with a 2TB SN850x. I'm running them in RAID0 across two Thunderbolt buses and am getting 6100 MB/s write and 5600 MB/s read in that configuration. These will do SPLENDIDLY.

Best part? They were $51 each on AliExpress!

WIsh these were around when I bought my Maiwo ASM2464 enclosures about a year ago. I had to buy and add my own heatsinks on top of those cases because they get so hot. This looks like an elegant out-of-the-box design for the hot but otherwise great performing ASM2464 chipset.

Hi. 👋 What mac was this tested on?
The question is whether it achieves the same results on older Macs with Intel and Thunderbolt 3.

If I use a NvME card in this unit with a DRAMless design, and format it to exFAT, will it still work in my iPad mini 6?
Thinking of the Lexar nm790 4tb...

Do you know anything about the power consumption of this enclosure in idle?

Hi, on my Mac Studio I'm using this enclosure with a SN850X 4TB, but it's not going in sleep mode even if the computer is suspended. Is it the expected behaviour?

Using windows 11, do u guys do this

Right-click the drive on which you want to turn disk write caching on or off, and then click Properties. Click the Policies tab. Click to select Better performance. Click to select Enable write caching on the device.

Only by enable this, my write speed is bump up from 500Mb/s to 2600MB/s

Hi, got this couple of weeks before and installed the SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD 4TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280, works great, but got into issue as I am using it with the Direct to C port of my MBP3 with 3tf 40g cable, whenever the laptop goes to sleep, or sometimes whenever I turn on the laptop, MacBook pro 3 does not recognize this, and I have to disconnect it from the cable several times(sometimes) and plug it to recognize it by the laptop, the SAMSUNG 990 PRO SSD 4TB PCIe is macjurnal formatted. any one can help me with this, as to why it might be?
PS - I even tried a short cable, but the problem still persists.
Also, I have a Promise Pegasus 2 12 GB connected to the MBP3 C other port which works damn good and works flawlessly, (I unplug it and tied also but the problem still persists)
