I’m just a 1000 player so I couldn’t see the move order this deep but I still understood the king was stuck and the g pawn would help deliver mate. Cool puzzle, if I ever get it in a real game I’ll be sure to forget this information and blunder the game away 👌

double pawns are usually bad but I never thought of it as good as checkmate.

I got 1. Ng7 Kh6 2. g4 Kh7 but couldn't continue on my own. Cool puzzle!

I got the first two moves and the first checkmate, but could not figure out how to win if black moved the king back.

I figured out we had to move the knight as the first thing or else it's a stalemate right off the bat. I also figured out we had to get the g pawn involved, and considered trying to involve the h pawn too but decided against it thinking it wasn't possible to take that while keeping the king corralled.

When blacks king moves up he can move his rook instead of moving back

Wouldn't Ke7 avoid the eventual "3 consecutive identical moves" limitation which has been encountered using your solution..?
