the fashion driven spice girl was always destined for another route outside of music.

she had an interview where she said something along the lines of, "i may not have been the best singer or dancer, but i always showed up and i gave it my all." she is a professional and took all the criticism with grace.

I still believe that the secret their success is that the Spice Girls were marketed like a Boy Band NOT a Girl Group. Part of what makes Boy Bands so successful, is that each guy is given a distinct trope, and girls get to select their favorite, thus making them feel a sort of loyalty to their fav (now bias). In Boys Bands we usually see a bad boy, the baby, the big brother, the funny one, and the quiet one. They did pretty much the same thing when forming the Spice Girls. Sure, we didn’t quite get a “bad boy” but we did get Ginger who posed for nude photos at one time (at that time that was SUPER edgy), instead of the big brother we got Sporty, and no one really was the lead (although Scary always stood out and went to the center in photos). The point is that just like a boy band a girl could select which one was her favorite, and then they felt more connected to them and the group as a whole. Most Girl Groups try to be a tight unit. There may be a true leader, and the rest of the girls sing backup (ex. Destiny’s Child & The Pussycat Dolls) OR they truly are a unit and you have a hard time remembering a single member’s name (ex Envogue, SWV, & Dream). Sporty Spice even showed up in the “A Boy Band Holiday” special last year. TLC is really the only other Girl Group I can think of where you chose a a distinct favorite based on your personality.

Her presence in the group completed them all. She had a different kind of charm. Instead of having that one edgy quiet alternative girl in the group, they had the mysterious elegant fashion based girl.

According to Melanie C, Victoria was a much better singer than people think. It's just because Victoria was never confident in herself that she let people think less of her.

She actually contributed as much as the other girls in both singing and writing. Melanie wrote in her book that Victoria has good vocal range and was essential to their harmony. She described Victoria as "Musical" and "Instinctively knew how to write songs".

Victoria whilst not being the best singer is a really good harmoniser. 90% of the lower harmonies in their songs are done by her and I think add a nice richness to them. She was also one of the better, if not best, dancers in the group.

I loved seeing Posh’s more vulnerable sides. When she was expressing and singing, yes she was shy, but it was intentional and meaningful. She was always a force in the background but it doesn’t diminish her importance in the group. She was just fabulous!

Every group has a visual. She was THAT 🍸 When I see a performance by them now I gravitate towards her and Mel B. I like the way they interpret choreo

Victoria Voice Is Soooo Smooth.... Her Voice Was Always One Of My Favourites In The Group

I’ve always said this but the UK did Posh Spice so dirty. Although Victoria never had a strong voice, she made bops in her solo career and to this day I still unironically listen to her solo album. Like she’ll always be my favourite Spice Girl because even though she faced so much ridicule while she was in the group, she took that message of female empowerment and years later became 10x more successful than all the other members, which nobody expected. That’s why I’m so glad she left the UK and settled her fashion business in America, they didn’t deserve her after the way they treated her.

Fun fact: Victoria’s first solo track ‘Out of Your Mind’ had the biggest first-week sales for ANY of the Spice Girls in their solo careers, with 180K units sold in the first week.

While not given as many opportunities to shine, I do believe that Posh was a good singer. I dont think many of the songs suited her voice style because she has a theatre background. Nonetheless, she is a STAR

Victoria talks about why she doesn't have a verse in Wannabe in her first biography learning to fly. She basically says that as the group was writing it with the music producers, she attended a wedding as a bridesmaid and was giving notes and tips over the phone during the weekend she was away. By the time the song was finished she didn't have any parts in it. She didn't like performing it because it always reminded of being a bridesmaid.

Interestingly in their debut performance of "take me away" which they never recorded but performed for music industry experts, Victoria basically sang lead. And fun fact, the debut single for the spice girls was either going to be Love Thing or Wannabe. She features quite prominently in love thing though I doubt it would have had the impact of Wannabe.

Her part in Holler was awesome, she was SERVING face in the music video and it was nice hearing something fit her voice

It makes me sad that Victoria didn’t feel comfortable on stage and her being criticized so much. The role she played in the Spice Girls was important and I honestly feel, her being able to stand out as a persons of her own with minimal focus is a talent in itself

Victoria trained at my gym a few times and she's honestly one of the nicest celebrities I've ever met; she's very friendly, affectionate and personable 🇬🇧

Her name is posh and her passion is fashion. That’s it!

100% agree that Mel C was the standout vocalist. Her voice definitely lifted the group’s vocal strength.

Mel C also had the most enjoyable (and successful) solo career.

Had no idea how involved they were in crafting their songs. That’s impressive.

Also, fun fact, at the time Victoria’s debut solo single “Not Such An Innocent Girl” was released there was much speculation of a UK chart battle between it and Kylie Minogue’s new song that was being released that same week. The global chart topping success of the Kylie Minogue’ song, “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” obliterated the #6 UK chart-peaking performance of Victoria’s.

On the band's first 2 studio albums, Victoria mostly led the harmony...and she did her best on many non singles/album tracks.
Her best solo lines on non singles: Love Thing, Step To Me, Naked, Denying
Her best harmony is imo on Saturday Night Divas during Emma's part...

Of course on the final album Forever, she got many solo lines.

I was literally binging their music last night. I'm a 35 year old death metal head and I STILL love them.

The legendary visual of all girl groups.
Okay in KPOP(old and rare). There are members who were just there being pretty in performance.

They have talent but they are not given huge lines, verses, not expected to carry out songs.Visuals focuses on the aesthetics. And cameras. Like Posh/Victoria Bekham they’re like 5 - 7.5 in vocals.

They tend to be actresses eventually and get brand model deals. Name 1: Jisoo(BlackPink)
