The Difference Between “Conviction & Condemnation”

This is really big for me. I struggle with this a lot and it can rob me of the assurance of my salvation when I allow myself to go down this road. Thank you for taking the time to make this distinction. It’s a very helpful perspective.

many people fall into this, and you feel like every negative feeling is a conviction and it becomes tormenting. Always good to pray and ask the Lord to take it away or how to address the negative feeling, and you get automatic peace from just praying for it even if the answer comes later. 👍

Thank you for this, God’s timing is perfect. I was just thinking about my sins and even though I’ve repented and wanted to learn ways to improve, I’ve always been beating myself up about my sins.

I grew up always getting the “you are going to hell card” for every time I made a mistake…When I was older I had a real encounter with the Lord, I had to heal from that constant emotional trauma and abuse and realize that condemnation was demonic and not from Christ. It’s a process because the lies still come in to remind me of my shame in failures, but I have to hold onto Christ and his redemption. 🔥🙏🏽💯

Amen! I thank God for this freedom He taught me some years ago. I was always striving to be good for years and with that came shame but whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I serve him now because I love Him and I love his correction because I trust him that it is right. Convictions just remind me I belong to the most High.

Conviction or bringing to awareness comes from the Spirit within. Condemnation comes from religious groups and people from without. People should open their hearts and shut their mouths.

Keep in mind why Holy Spirit convicts you… if you can find any other scripture that talks about Holy Spirit convicting you for your sin please reply.. but the one verse I do know is John 16:7-10

It says He convicts the world of sin because of unbelief!! So this could also mean you’re not believing God for something…

I have a mount Everest amount of shame. Why would I wanna overcome that? It's who I am. Me the shame, boy. No shame no identity no identity no life. Shame is all that's keeping me alive.
