Okay I’m watching this at 6 weeks along.. and I know my hormones are wack cause at the end when you said “I hope this helps you mom” I literally teared up 🥹 I’m gonna be a momma you guys! ❤ Still feels so unreal. Congrats to all the new moms and mommas to be!

Momma of MANY here! Amen to the burp cloths and baby bath tub. After using them for awhile with our first, I learned quickly that “receiving blankets” make the best burp cloths. They are just a great multi-purpose item! I ditched the clunky always in the way baby tub for the simple, cute bear sponge bath tub pad things for all my babies. Like the towel idea, I laid it in a just enough warm water to keep my washcloths wet and the baby to kick their feet in. It was so easy to drain the tub, squeeze out the water from the bath sponge mat, lean it against the tub or ledge and let it air dry. ❤ I’m a 55 year old momma of 11, and have been a foster momma to many! Our children are currently aged 13-26 and we have 6 grandchildren so far! I relished and adored all the baby stages! It’s so special! ❤ Psalm 127, II Corinthians 9:8, and Ephesians 3:14-21 blessings to you and your family! I am so thankful for your channel, sis! I enjoy it very much! 😊

In Norway the (public, we don't have any private) midwifes encourage to bite the babys nails, so it´s totally normal! The jumper (if it's the one where the baby uses its feet to bounce on the floor) is forbidden, because it can cause problems with the hips (when grown up - my husband has that...). We didn't use pacifiers for our daughter and didn't have a nursery (nobody does over here, the baby usually sleeps in the parents bedroom until turning one year old. And that was even before I became a minimalists! Even though I'm not the audience for this video, I love that you share, because there are so much unnecessary things made for babies (just to earn money).

I have five who are now teens or tweens. My advice on the pacifier is to follow your child’s instincts about it. I had one child who used a pacifier constantly and some who just weren’t interested at all. I think it just depends on your individual child and what they need. And be open to changing your mind. It’s okay if you think you don’t want to use one and end up doing it because it just isn’t possible to have a constantly nursing baby with two other small children who also need your care. That’s not a failure. It’s just changing your mind. I was so hard on myself about things like that, thinking I “failed” if something didn’t go the way I planned. That’s my biggest piece of advice for new moms: be open to doing it differently than you expected. That also applies to accepting help from dad and other family members who don’t do things the way you might. Different doesn’t mean it’s wrong. As long as baby is healthy and fed and cared for, it all turns out just fine.

Love all your thoughts! I was anti swaddle and tried without it for months but after enough sleepless nights we finally broke down and used one for my baby and she slept so much better! I think it all depends on the child just like how weighted blankets help many people but not all! :) I'm praying everything goes super well with this sweet baby! ❤

Great list! I’m expecting #6 early October and I’m determined to make it the most simple newborn/baby phase yet. There is just SO much stuff marketed to moms that we don’t need.

Yes! I'm expecting baby #5 and I 100% agree with using muslin swaddle for everything and absolutely no snaps. None of my babies have used a pacifier and I plan on doing the same with this babe. It helps me to address the actual reason the baby is crying (hungry, tired, diaper, digestion)

5:36 we use cloth diapers because they're nontoxic and we also don't have to worry about running out of diapers. I know it's not for everyone but I absolutely love using cloth it's also way more cost effective

I love this! I’m not even a mom but I just enjoy your insight so much and it’s so wise and gives me such a relief thinking about how much they DONT need! Less energy spent researching and purchasing, less funds spent, less clutter like win win win!! More time living simply and in love 💓

I loved this video. Since I’ve got pregnant, I don’t know what it is but all I want to do is declutter and live a more minimalist lifestyle. I’ve had a random realization that I just don’t need a lot. It’s too much.

I love videos like this. The pressure mamas feel is huge. Ive thought "idk if i can have more kids because we only have a two bedroom apartment" so your words here comforted me.

"I am the baby's greatest asset." Ohhh how I love that. I'm expecting and I just watched Lana's video which lead to this one. You guys are an asset to mommy's watching.

I’m a mama x3 and I love most of your advice on here! Muslin blankets also make great bath towels since they are so absorbent! I wish I had an adult size one because they dry so quickly. My best minimalist advice is to wait to buy anything until you need it. Every one of my three kids had different difficulties and different needs. Since we can get almost anything to our fingertips within a couple days, it’s best to wait, and buy something when you need it. I went super minimalist with my third baby and it was so much less stressful because there was not a lot of excess!❤

I cut down clutter of a baby bath tub with my third baby by just bathing with my baby lol. I would just carry them into the tub with me and hold them and clean them. It was so special and such an added bonding experience with my baby 🥰 I also bit my newborns’ nails myself too! So much easier and also safer because I could feel with my mouth where to bite off and what would hurt them.

Love love this video! I’m preparing for my second babe due early october and totally taking all your thoughts & ideas & inspiration into my life. I love you minimalism outlook and it’s becoming really important to me too after relazing how much of a money scam the baby market is, and all markets lol, and how I totally absolutely got sucked into that for my first! Lots of purging of clothes & toys, excessive blankets from my first before second gets here and it feels so good! I cannot wait to continue going through stuff and getting rid of everything unnecessary.

We far as paci, we used one if absolutely needed- like if I for some reason wasn’t able to nurse because dad had her or if I was really struggling with getting sleep one night. But honestly- bigger pain having one like you said, making sure one is near/clean/that you have extras. I plan to not resort to one either unless I feel it’s necessary? But with nursing 24/7 I don’t think i’ll be needing it haha.

Love the arms out swaddle idea! Wow it was so rough transitioning my first to arms out- I plan to start arms out from beginning too. Have you heard of the podcast birthing instincts? Love this podcast so much. Their focus is on how to break free/ maintain sovereignty with the medical system & view birth as a non medical event. They did an awesome podcast with a IBCLC, episode 292 and they talked about benefits of not swaddling, one reason being for integration of reflexes & just keeping that baby close to boob! haha it was great and eye opening.

Love the tallow product! I have one too that I plan to use for babe. I also love how you said we totally don’t need baby specific soap/towels/shampoo and long as you have clean ingredient non toxic products why would you need anything more? Why didn’t I have that realization too ?! the control the market has on us to think we always need more & to not trust our intuition!!

So excited for you and your family & can’t wait to continue following your journey!

I totally agree on not eating enough because I was so concerned about my blood sugar after childbirth.
It really affected my milk supply. ❤

This is great timing for this video! Preparing for our first baby in November and making a registry can be overwhelming. Just not knowing what we actually need or don’t need!

I am a first time Mom to an almost 6 month old and his nails grow SO fast! An older lady at Church told me she used to bite all her babies nails and it’s been a game changer for me. I do it while he nurses and he even finds it funny! I don’t think it’s weird at all and no possibility to cut their little fingers!
