Ya'ateeh from the Navajo Nation! I like walking meditation - so many times we walk and do not appreciate being outside. It's become a foreign place and we don't appreciate all the good in trees and the life we have on our Mother, the Earth. Keep walking! :)

Since I almost always hike on my own as a way to alleviate my depression and bi-polar, Tosogyo and Tokogatame are things that I have kind of been doing without thinking.

I walk in silence (unless I know there are boar about or need to leave a trail quickly) and try to observe everything around me. Then at some point I will stop and just sit quietly for a while.

What I am missing are the mantras and sutras but those I will eventually learn when I finally get initiated in Katsuragi Shugen, hopefully next year.

I like the last one. I'm living in Tokyo doing a job I don't really enjoy at the moment. But I'll get through it. The future is bright.
I'd love to do a walk with you sometime.

I think that all these concepts will help in my life. I'm very happy because I'm going to do the Yamabushi training.

Hanna Shingyo is something I've done, there is a Buddhist monk who has a youtube channel and although a little eccentric, it still teaches the way of the Buddha in a modern format. Tosogyo is something I like to practice more of, since short hiking is what I do. I hope to do some Tsosgyo with you when I come visit soon.

thank you for the share - i came across your stuff on a psyche article; amazing to hear something perhaps more (nicely) hardcore the stoicism a budget Hannya Shingyo hack for the viewer: put yourself underneath a cold shower for a few minutes. This may help with resilience, as it's done so for me ✌️

Super interesting video.
Thanks for sharing the it.
I walk in nature when I have a chance, and once in a while I run in it, swim in lakes etc.
I know it isn't shugendo training but being in nature has always felt meaningful and nice.
It's some kind of reconnecting thing. I can't explain it though... just feels good.
