Want to customize your WordPress Excerpts? Excerpts are short snippets of your posts that you can display in a list of blog posts or other important pages on your website. In this article, we will show you how to customize your WordPress Excerpts without writing any code. When and Why to Use Excerpts in WordPress. #tutorial #wordpress #excerpts
First, let's talk about when it makes sense to use excerpts, and why it's a good idea to do so.
By default, WordPress displays full posts on your website's homepage, blog pages, and archives. This slows down your site and can also cause problems for search engines as it means you have duplicate content on your site.
Using Excerpts can make your pages load faster because you only load a small portion of each article. You may want to use excerpts for: Your site's home page when displaying blog posts. Different archive pages for categories and tags. Your blog post page if you have a static home page.
Why you might want to customize Excerpts If your WordPress theme uses snippets by default, WordPress will automatically generate Excerpts for you. By default, WordPress uses the first 55 words of your post, although many themes display more.
What's wrong with it? Can't you save time by letting WordPress create the excerpt for you?
This is where the problem lies. Auto-generated excerpts begin with the text at the beginning of your contribution. This can be fine in some cases, but it won't work so well if you have something before you start introducing your post. As you can see, the excerpt shows the text at the beginning of the post. This includes credit for the featured image and an indication of when the post was last updated. This doesn't look good.
