Ostrogozhsk is a town in Voronezh Province and is located on the River Tikhaya Sosa River, a tributary of the River Don. the town was established in 1652 by Ukrainian Cossaks (Chernigiv and Nizhyn regiments) as the Ostrog fortress . In 1765 it was granted town status.
