314 shipbuilders laid off at Newport News Shipbuilding, 119 managers demoted

I use to work in the shipyard & what a great group of shipbuilders worked there. It is my wish that the company be able to rehire all that lost their job in the near future. Prayers for all. Great area, I miss it dearly.

This is a lifelong job I use to work for them when I was a welder back in 2005 this was my biggest fear the layoff. Amazing job make good money here I recommend anyone who wants a good paying job with great benefits to work here. Layoffs don't happen often here but when they do it hurts . Prayers going up to those affected.

What I found interesting in the announcement was “Today is a tough day as we say goodbye to 314 fellow shipbuilders" and they were paid severance money. That doesn't sound good for them to return to NNS.
