Is this €1 million flagship of the Sargo range, the 45 Explorer, the ultimate all-season boat?

In this in-depth review, test drive and walkthrough, Jack Haines experiences the 45 Explorer in home territory of the Finnish archipelago to see how the boat performs in the environment it was made for (even if it turned out to be a little too calm!)

The 45 Explorer is available with sterndrives or IPS, the latter proving the more popular option in the boats built thus far. It’s capable of around 36 knots flat out but it’s the efficient cruising performance that really stands out. She’ll cruise anywhere from 15-30 knots and still maintain a range of around 400nm with the optional 2,000-litre fuel tank.

On board, there is the option to have two or three cabins on the lower deck, the former granting more space to the owner’s cabin and ensuite bathroom, forward. The three-cabin version is popular, though, as it provides comfortable and private sleeping space for six adults.

The level of practical detailing is truly outstanding, as you will see throughout the tour. It’s a lot of money for a 45-footer but the Sargo 45 Explorer is one of the most capable boats you can buy at this size.

Definitely need a bigger sea review of this boat! Looks amazing but concerned it may be a bit high CoG compared to other Finnish boats. Also an update on the flybridge option that is supposed to be coming out.

Also, do we know if they have plans for outboard engines? Torque would probably be a challenge but seems like everyone else is doing it…

My husband and I toured a 45 Sargo Explorer earlier these year (I think February) at an exhibition. They are very impressive! Expensive though, but looks worth every dollar, especially in person. Wow it looks very stable, at speed! Our new home has it's own dock perfectly suited for THIS vessel lol

This wouldn't look out of place as a police/coastguard patrol vessel, without the swim deck on the bow! I really did fall in love with this vessel! I have Googled it regularly since we seen it lol. Sending hints🤣. My husband prefers sailing, but not me. Too much work lol
