Google is showing an animated doodle in many countries on January 15th, 2021, for celebrating Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball game.

James Naismith was a Canadian-American physical educator, physician, Christian chaplain, sports coach, and innovator. In 1891, he left Canada for Springfield, Massachusetts and invented the game of basketball.

One other fact about James Naismith: After inventing basketball, Naismith became the first head coach at the University of Kansas and, to date, is the only coach in the history of the school with a losing win-loss record as he did not believe that basketball was a game that could be coached.
