India was also invited by France in 2019, by the US in 2020 and in 2021 by the UK, it's nothing new. As a big economy it should be (if it wants to be) a permanent member though.

Whenever western countries say they are not trying to splinter India or other countries from Russia or China then you must think three things ahead
1) Trying to please their public opinions about their friendship and cooperation when it comes to politics or economic or military cooperation
2) Slowly and steadily become a dependent supplier so that they can easily force you into things you don't even want to do
3) Saying that they'll bring benefits and prosperity to becoming a one way traffic route and do the other

Europe has too less energy sources. So, we are still forced to buy natural gas from Russia. Putin knew that and took advantage of that by invading Ukraine.
Anyhow, we cannot blame India to much A free Europe has no other choice than going to renewable resources in the future. Despite the temporary usage of every possible energy source, we will do it differently in the future.
