Carol Kaye deserves to be immortalized for the bass line to Good Vibrations alone.

Carol Kaye should be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. She is an incredible musician who was way before her time!

Every time people talk about Carol Kaye's most recognized bass, they list hit radio songs. Anyone know how many great bass lines she created for TV shows, both theme songs and show drama music. She performed on: Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, Mission: Impossible, M*A*S*H, Kojak, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, The Love Boat, McCloud, Mannix, It Takes a Thief, Peyton Place Thee Cosby Show, Hawaii Five-O, The Addams Family, The Brady Bunch, Ironside, Room 222, Bonanza, Wonder Woman, Alias Smith & Jones, Run for Your Life, and Barnaby Jones. And tons of feature films. You should make a video on the TV music. People love that, it's nostalgic. You are a super duper great bassist, by the way. Love your channel and thank you!

I still can't get over the fact that Carol played the guitar on Richie Valens
'La Bamba'...
She's a truly amazing musician...

The opening 5 notes of Wichita Lineman is just the perfect intro. What a legend.

Honestly Julia's probably one of the best bassists on youtube. I've never seen her rip solos or do crazy things but her clean playing, timing and variety in tone make her rival some of the best studio recording bassists.

I grew up in the 60's, this was my music. Good Vibrations blew my mind! Just recently found out Carol did that incredible bass line that I think she came up with, and then she did Cher and Motown! She's awesome!

I didn't know she did that in the first Joe Cocker's album. That album is an absolute master piece by the way

Carol Kaye played in the key of genius... she took a very good song and turned them into iconic memories.

Carol Kaye, James Jamerson and Jaco were my favorite bassists and inspiration to play bass.

Kaye understood the role of the bass player: lock in with the drummer to provide the groove and drive the song structure. And she was always creative and smart about it.

Carol Kaye is a legend - I am so glad she's getting the recognition she deserves. Julia, as usual, does the artist justice with her own passion for playing. Awesome video!

I met Carol back in 81 in Monterey ca., where she was gigging at a small club near the Monterey pier, across from the Double Tree Inn, where I was playing with my band. We became friends and kept in touch over the years. She was extremely nice and let me sit in, playing on her custom made Music Man bass…she’s amazing.

Carole Kay's opening bass line in Wichita Lineman is also iconic. And made that song a must listen from the get go!

Most do not realize that Carol was instrumental in leading the bass line for “Wichita Lineman”. It was her lead in that gave the other musicians their rhythm time. Instead of the normal percussion.

Good vibrations baseline just goes to show you that she musically bonds with her patrons. That line sounds just like something Brian Wilson would play if the had that kind of command of the bass. Love Brian and Carol!!
