I think Gordon had real sympathy for Robyn and so he didn’t assault her. Still, he messed with her head and caused her to separate from a husband who cared about her, leaving a baby with a single mom. This is the thing about revenge, it might be satisfying but in the end, it can also cause innocent victims.

I’ve watched this movie more than once, but I was just as invested while watching the recap. This is definitely one of my favourites. I loved the message of this film.

Bullies forget their victims over the years, but the bullied never forgets. And in some cases the bullied go insane and become very dangerous for the Bully and everyone close to him.

They did a good job on the casting, because Bateman is so likeable you think he couldnt possibly be a bad guy.

At modern times Gordo would have hijacked the house and put some devices hidden that could play sounds. Dude is in the bedroom? Then sounds of footsteps in the kitchen room. Dude is in the kitchen? Sound of bed being moved. Dude is sleeping? Sounds of broken glass on the kitchen.

The wife was pretty dumb in this movie, ngl.
Gordo, a complete stranger to her, stalks them and breaks in to their house and what not, and she's all like "he's a good guy" and whatever because he gives gifts?

They should of gotten a restraining order right away, and maybe also changed the locks after the break in. But I guess that the movie had to happen.

I think Gordo did not really do it and it was just a taunt. Still possible that he did but i kinda doubt it. Unless Gordo, drug her time and time again and assault her every time, it is highly possible. If it is only once, it is possible but highly unlikely.

This movie got me, because I'm too was exposed to something similar at school. When the same bully crossed my path 15 years later, I found that he hadn't changed at all, but just like Bateman's character had learned to hide it. Wish I could say that I managed to get over myself and just forget old grievances but that wouldn't be true. Of course, from the perspective of his family, I was the bully, who for no apparent reason has ruined life of their breadwinner, but I didn't care back then. We all sometimes forget that none of us exists in a vacuum and our actions have consequences, but apparently giving in to our instincts is simply part of human nature. In this film, the only victim was Robyn. She didn't deserve to go through this just because her husband was a piece of shit and the one he bullied couldn't move on.

Tbh I don’t think he actually did it because it’s meant to be symbolic and to be similar to what he did to him in their past. It he actually did it, it would take out any intent or meaning as to why he would plot all of this.

I have had "The Gift" on my Netflix watch list for far too long. Even when I would watch the trailer on Netflix, which would begin with Simon (Jason Bateman's character) talking to someone on the phone, I could feel how intense this movie is.

I need to FINALLY watch this movie.
