What's up everybody! Today we're looking at the Tokina EL 28mm f2.8 Adapted to the Sony A6000. I purchased this lens from my local thrift store and got a fantastic deal! It was located in the showcase section, and it only cost me $6.19! The lens was made in Japan and is constructed of metal and hard plastic. The lens is light weight, weighing in at 8.6 ounces and stands ~2 inches tall. Focusing is smooth and will take you a half rotation to go from infinity to a minimum focusing distance of .3 meters. The aperture starts at f16 and opens up to a bright f2.8. Six aperture blades produce hexagon shaped bokeh, and the lens has a 52mm filter thread for attaching screw on lens hoods and filters. I'm adapting the lens using a K&F Concept Adapter I bought from Amazon for about $15 (see link below). The adapter is the magical piece of metal that allows us to use these old lenses on our new cameras. This lens was made for many different mounts, but In this case I'm using an adapter that converts the Minolta MD Mount to the Sony NEX/E-Mount, it's labeled (MD-NEX). Adapting MD mounted lenses is straight forward, just line up the dots and turn. The Tokina is a nice lightweight match for the a6000, and feels very comfortable in the hand and around the neck. Once we have everything adapted, it's time to run out and get some sample shots.

There are so many reason to like these old lenses. Not only do they make your camera look super cool, but they can be an excellent way to acquire quality glass at a bargain price:)

thank you for your awesome videos. I bought a Nikon pancake and cannon FD 1.8 at my local thrift store after watching your videos. I am now a fan of vintage lens and realized how great is my Sony alpha 6000 capable of bringing back these old gems to life

Great video and a nice bargain. Hoping to do a video review myself of my Rokkor lenses adapted to my G80 soon. Keep up the good work.

I have the Canon 28mm 2.8 which looks exactly the same as this lens.... do you happen to know if they are the same lens with a different logo?

I have found a few 28mm but unfortunately not in very good condition. I did come across a Tokina 17mm f3.5 a couple of weeks back at an antique store, got all excited until I saw the price $275!. More than I wanted to spend.
Thanks for another informative video.

Can you do a longer video -- can you go through all of the F stops?

Love your videos! What is your favorite adapted lens? I'm digging my super takumar 55 1.8. Any plans on doing a video with a focal reducer/speed booster?

I have a Sears 28mm f/2.8 (Pentax K mount) lens, my problem with this lens is that it is atrocious at f/2.8 and f/4 you can only get real sharpness at f/8. I wish I had a nice and sharp 24 or 28mm

Cool channel. Have you found any vintage ultra wide lens that work well? Ive already spent a lot on the Sony 35/1.8 prime and 18-105 zoom and don't want spend more on the Rokinon/Samyang 12/14mm. Looking for a walk around lens for landscape and hiking.

28mm on an APS-C camera is probably a good lens for walk-around. Good deal you got there.

Hi! I'm buying this lens for using it reverse mounted for macro photography. Do you think it will give me good sharpness and detail? I do bug portraits. Thanks!

Hi,

Since we lose stabilization, do you face any issue when taking pictures or videos handheld?
