My grandad would have been 100 today. He was a rear gunner in a Wellington Bomber and survived around 30 sorties. Happy Birthday Grandad.

Being born just before the war this was type of song I grew up with. For some reason this song has always resonated with me and the lyrics have stayed with me all this time.

I am in England. Near where I live is a memorial to 10 young men from the B17 Mi Amiga . Coming shot up by FW190s they were doing just this. Buy the weather closed in. They couldn't see an airfield less than a mile away as the clouds were too low
Trying for a landing in the middle of a city they aimed for a far too small park. At the last second they saw a group of kids playing football. The B17 pulled up and into the trees. They all died. But they are remembered.

Childhood memories of my mum singing this to me, she was a WAFF based in London during the blitz.

Thank you posting. She had perfect diction unlike the screaming so-called stars of today.

Venerate the engineers of the B-17, for their work was nothing short of divinely inspired! Through prayer and genius, so many crews were granted safety and victory!

Ave Fectum!
Ave Machina!
Amen

I'll be honest I've heard many versions of this song but I've never heard the version where they sing with a full Crew and our trust in the Lord which is true give God a hundred percent always!

My grandfather was a Soviet pilot. 4 times wounded, on inefficient airplanes he was surely efficient. And finally, we won.

From my point of view the best version of this Air Force smashing hit. (Thanx for this upload!)

Discovered this song among my grandfather's nickel-sheet music. One very dear piece.

Прекрасный голос и оркестр на высоте. Мое мнение, это лучшее, если не классическое исполнение этой песни👍
